PTFE is an abbreviation for the chemical polytetrafluoroethylene. Comprised of a mix of fluorine and ethylene glycol, its chemical makeup is a poly-tetrahedron. PTFE is used as a lubricant in machinery. It is less volatile and less viscous, creating a smoother, more slippery lubricant. It also will not catch fire quite easily if at all.

Turned into a solid, this stuff becomes tubing that protects, prevents melting and shrinking, and creates tubing for electrical and technological applications. It can even be used for things like telecommunications applications in its tube form. It cannot revert to a liquid or gaseous state once it has been transformed into a solid state that is used in PTFE Heat Shrink Tubing Products.
Coating for Pans and Pipes
From liquid to solid, this application of PTFE is somewhere in the middle. As a liquid, it is applied to cooking pans and pots to prevent foods from sticking and to the insides of pipes to prevent highly corrosive liquids from eating through the pipes. Then the applications to pans, pots, and pipes are baked into a hard coating that prevents the applications from completely sliding out or off of the objects to which they are applied. They may be re-dipped and baked again to make the coating thicker and tougher.
PTFE is also pressed and baked into a flat, thin woven sheet, which is then cut in the surgical suite to use as a graft for burns, patching holes in organs, and stretching the length of arteries in the body. People who are badly injured or in need of immediate grafts for organs or arteries are saved from very early deaths and intense pain because of the graft sheets made from this material. It speaks volumes to the safety of this material, too, considering the fact that it has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use on and inside the human body.
Clothing containing the name brand Gore-Tex is one such example of PTFE making clothes stronger and more durable. It helps clothing stretch while making them a little more waterproof. Knowing about this and the other applications above, you can easily see how it might be applied to the future projects of your own company.
