Industrial Boilers: Noticing Problems Early

1-Vent Pipe Corrosion

Vent pipes show problems visibly. Rust or corrosion is never something you want to see because corrosion will mean metal parts will soon be needing replacement. Corrosion is often an indicator of other boiler problems too. Even if all you see is white residue, that's worth noting because it's typically related to condensation. If you don't have a corrosion problem yet, it could be coming.

2-Low Water Levels

Leaks or problems with pumps, valves, and similar boiler components can contribute to water levels that are lower than they ought to be. Boilers can still work when water levels aren't sufficient, but the risk is that levels will become so critically low that significant problems occur. Tubes and other components could begin melting, and a fire is possible.

3-Outdoor Flue Conditions

Air intake could be seriously flawed if soot is starting to collect around the flue bases.

4-Maintenance Logs

Regular run-of-the-mill tasks like air filter changes should be done regularly, but if there isn't one central place to see that they're being done, you won't know which boilers need more attention than others. Having a central maintenance log book or journal is key; then you can supervise workers and ensure that general maintenance tasks are regularly done.
